A soft bark came from under the bed. Woof, woof! Tiko tapped his shell three times with a happy grin. Tap, tap, tap, off we go! A tiny door opened, and Sofia saw a wonderful place. It smelled of warm, fresh bread, and there were puppy paw prints everywhere.

They were inside a big puppy bakery! Fluffy dogs in little white aprons were rolling dough with their paws. But the head baker, a cute little pug, looked worried. The dough for the party buns was too hot and dry. If they did not fix it soon, there would be no treats.

Sofia put on an apron to help her new friends. They mixed the flour, rolled with small rolling pins, and shaped bone cookies. Suddenly, Tiko slid down a hill of white flour. Poof! Sofia and the puppies giggled. Tiko looked just like a round, powdered sweet!

The baking ovens were getting hotter and hotter. The tired puppies stuck out their tongues. They were so thirsty and too tired to knead. Sofia thought fast. What did her family drink on sunny, hot days? She reached into her magic backpack and pulled out a chilly pitcher.

It was cold agua de jamaica, a sweet, ruby-red drink made from hibiscus flowers! Sofia poured little bowls for the pups and splashed a few drops into the dough. The cool drink gave the puppies lots of energy, and the buns turned into soft pink stars. Everything was delicious!

Buenas noches, panaderos.

With happy, full tummies, the puppies gave Sofia a little cup to take home. Tiko whispered, tap, tap, tap, off we go! Back in her cozy bed, Sofia set down her agua de jamaica to share with her family tomorrow. Tiko curled up tight. Goodnight, little bakers.
