Each story is written directly in Chinese (Mandarin), not translated from English. Mandarin in simplified characters, or traditional characters for families from Taiwan. Every character lights up as it's read.
What's the second language for?
Kids raised abroad often understand the family language but think in their school language. The same story in English, German, French, Dutch, Swedish, Spanish or Italian lets them switch when they get stuck.
